Yom Kippur This

Updated: Apr 3, 2024

New Year.

New Traditions.

Jacob couldn’t go to services and Benno was not pleased about the idea and then there was Steve…VERY not pleased with the idea. So I threw in the towel. No services this year. No fasting this year. We are not going to recognize last year. We are going to take this day as the day to set the New Year’s intentions.

So we started a new Yom Kippur tradition.

FUN DAY. Everyone gets to do the things they love.

We started with pumpkin carving, which quickly turned into mommy’s art project, but hey…I think I have some talent here.

Not too shabby huh?

Jacob wanted to do science. We made a volcano (for the 100th time) and did some air pressure experiments with eggs.

Benno got a gig teaching CPR to a Girl Scouts group so he was busy putting together slides and researching poison ivy.

And Steve built.

And we all ATE and ATE and ATE. Especially Jacob.

Sorry but not sorry God. We understand the holiday, we do. We understand that we did wrong this year, but we did our time too. We have repented. We have. We also learned what is important and THIS day is important to us. Every single day matters to us. Every single day when we all are healthy is a day to celebrate.

So we are going to CARVE, EXPERIMENT, TEACH, LEARN, and EAT and EAT and EAT.

Happy Yom People.
